Number Duel Games
Fraction Builder
Fraction Builder is a visual fraction game where kids repair bridges with fraction boards. Instead of starting with rules for adding fractions, children see how one half, one third, one fourth, and one sixth behave as lengths. The goal is to fill each bridge exactly: not too short, not too long.
How to Play
- Look at the target bridge length: one whole, one half, or another fraction.
- Tap or drag a fraction board such as 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, or 1/6.
- Watch the bridge fill as each board is placed.
- Use undo when the bridge is too long, then try a shorter board.
- Finish all seven bridge levels to earn quest stars.
What Fraction Builder Teaches
Fractions are easier to understand when they are visible quantities. The bridge turns one whole into a fixed length, so children can compare pieces directly. They can see that two 1/4 boards match 1/2, that three 1/3 boards make 1, and that a bigger denominator can mean a smaller piece.
Using It with Kids
Ask children to say what they notice before placing a board. Is 1/3 longer than 1/4? How many sixths would match one half? The game rewards exact fits, but the learning happens when children explain why a bridge is short, long, or complete.
