Number Duel Strategy

Product Duel Strategy

Product Duel uses multiplication instead of addition. If your active number is 3 and your opponent's active number is 4, the target is 12. You can claim an open cell with value 12. This changes the feel of the board because products are not spread as evenly as sums.

Understand Product Density

Some products appear in many ways, such as 12 from 3 x 4 or 2 x 6. Other products are more restrictive. A restrictive target can be powerful when it points to a valuable cell, but it can also trap you if the matching cell has already been claimed.

Avoid Easy Replies

Product Duel rewards looking one move ahead. If you take a strong product cell but leave the opponent with a simple product that completes their line, the move may be a mistake. Ask what products your opponent can create after your claim.

Example

Suppose the opponent's active number is 5. Choosing 4 creates target 20, while choosing 7 creates target 35. If 20 blocks an opponent line, it may be the best defensive choice. If 35 extends two of your lines, it may create a stronger attack. The multiplication is only the doorway into the board-control decision.
